Dr. Sima Yakoby Epstein Inspires at ASCEND, Presented by Women in DSO®

Dr. Sima Yakoby Epstein shares her immigrant journey and why changing the norm in oral care is essential.
At this year’s Dykema Definitive Conference for DSOs, the energy in the room was undeniable as OrthoNu’s Founder and CEO, Dr. Sima Yakoby Epstein, took the stage at ASCEND presented by Women in DSO®. The fifth annual ASCEND event celebrated the stories, leadership, and impact of women shaping the future of dentistry—and Dr. Epstein’s presentation embodied that spirit of perseverance and innovation.
A Journey Fueled by Perseverance, Grit, and Vision
In her talk, titled “A Nu Era in Oral Care Excellence,” Dr. Epstein shared her personal journey, marked by perseverance and the courage to transform challenges into opportunities.
“Every journey begins with a spark,” she reflected. For Dr. Epstein, that spark became a movement—one rooted in reimagining orthodontic care not only for patients but also for the practices that serve them.
She emphasized that while orthodontic and dental treatment delivers life-changing results, it also brings pain, discomfort, and vulnerability. These unmet needs affect patients and create stress and inefficiencies for providers. OrthoNu’s mission, she explained, is to transform the standard of care—empowering patients and streamlining practice workflows through science-driven, empathetically designed solutions.

Innovation with Empathy

“OrthoNu is designed for patients, in partnership with providers—reimagining oral wellness during orthodontic treatment with high-quality, science-backed products that seamlessly blend technology and clinical excellence,” Dr. Epstein said.
Her philosophy is rooted in empathy and problem-solving. By observing human actions differently and designing for the subtle nuances that others may overlook, OrthoNu develops products that support patients from day one. Daily-use solutions reinforce oral wellness, improve outcomes, and strengthen oral-systemic care—all while addressing emergencies and discomfort that can derail treatment.
Building a Movement, Not Just a Product Line
Under Dr. Epstein’s leadership, OrthoNu has become more than a product company. With 30 active patents, 6 new products ready for release, and 24 more in the pipeline, OrthoNu is building a movement toward patient empowerment and clinical efficiency.
“I have to be invincible in the quality of the products I create. I have to be relentless in my commitment to make dental care more efficient. I am limitless in not only creating products, but in creating a movement,” Dr. Epstein told the ASCEND audience.
Her vision challenges the industry to rethink assumptions: “Just because something is the norm, doesn’t mean it needs to remain the standard.”

Looking Ahead

As Women in DSO® celebrated its fifth year of ASCEND, Dr. Epstein’s call to action resonated deeply:
“Let’s be unstoppable in our mission—in our leadership, our lives, and our vision for the future of patient care.”
